The Mercer Penthouse

Case Study

"A raw loft transformed into a refined urban sanctuary — where exposed concrete and custom bronze joinery coexist with hand-woven textiles."

The brief was deceptively simple: make it feel like it belongs here, but nowhere else. The Mercer Penthouse occupies the top two floors of a converted cast-iron building in SoHo. Our challenge was to honour the industrial heritage of the space while creating an interior of genuine warmth and livability.

The solution was a material conversation between the building's past and the client's present. Original concrete columns were left exposed and celebrated. New elements — custom bronze joinery, hand-plastered walls, bespoke lighting — were introduced with the same weight and permanence as the architecture itself.

Project Highlights

Custom bronze joinery fabricated by Milanese artisans

Hand-woven textiles sourced from Oaxacan cooperatives

Bespoke lighting designed in collaboration with Roll & Hill

Reclaimed Burgundy oak flooring, 18th century provenance

Integrated smart home system concealed within traditional millwork
